Bev Doolittle 畫馬的石版畫

2008-9-3    by admin    No Comments

From the late 1970s though the ’90s Bev Doolittle captured the hearts and minds of art lovers around the world with thought provoking, watercolor images of her favorite subjects: wilderness landscapes, native americans, wild animals, and most of all horses. Now heavily immersed in a new medium, Bev is enjoying a resurgence of popularity with a whole new generation of art lovers. Turning once again to her favorite subject of horses, Bev has created several stone lithographs that are both beautiful and highly collectible.. Each lithograph is numbered and signed by the artist. A maximum of only 100 will be produced of each image.

If these images strike a chord in your heart, call us right away. In today’s art world 100 lithographs is a very low issue size indeed, and given the level of Bev’s popularity, this opportunity will not last very long.

In Stone Lithography the image is drawn directly onto a specially prepared flat stone (from which the process gets its name: “litho” from the Greek from “li`qos” meaning “stone”.) A limited number of lithographs are made from the stone, and each is individually signed by the artist. The stone is then resurfaced, destroying the drawing. As the stone is merely a tool used to create the lithograph, each lithograph is considered to be an original.
